BACOLOD City – Police were still identifying men who carted away firearms from security guards manning the defunct Maricalum Mining Corp. in Purok Malipayon, Barangay San Jose, Sipalay City, Negros Occidental.
Chief Inspector Romeo Vargas, Sipalay City police chief, said about eight armed men clad in camouflage army uniforms disarmed the guards around 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
The men took eight shotguns, a .9mm pistol and cellphones from the guards, Vargas added.
The men then fled to the mountainous area in Sitio Umas in the village, police said.
