8-year-old twins drown in Jamindan

ROXAS City – Two died and another survived in a drowning incident at a river in Barangay Poblacion, Jamindan on Saturday, said Emilio Orocio Jamindan of the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO).

The attending physician of Mambusao District Hospital declared “dead on arrival” Mark John Balbino, 8, and his twin brother Carl John Balbino, after they were brought to the hospital by Jamindan emergency responders.

There were several workers extracting gravel from the river at the time of the incident, they immediately informed the MDRRMO, Orocio said.

MDRRMO responders were able to revive the twins’ elder brother, Kent Ian Balbino, 10.

Orocio said their office received information on the drowning incident around 3 p.m. – and they immediately conducted a search and rescue operation to heed the call.

The siblings were reportedly taking a bath in the river when a strong current took them, the MDRRMO report said./PN
