ILOILO — Nine municipalities and portions of several other areas in Iloilo Province will experience a 12-hour power interruption on June 6.
The National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) and Iloilo 1 Electric Cooperative (ILECO 1) will carry out major maintenance and upgrading works on critical power facilities.
The scheduled outage will run from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. and is expected to affect all consumers in the municipalities of Alimodian, Guimbal, Igbaras, Leon, Miag-ao, Oton, San Joaquin, Tigbauan and Tubungan.
The interruption was requested by NGCP to allow its technical team to replace deteriorated wooden poles, correct defects along the Sta. Barbara–Miag-ao–San Joaquin 69-kilovolt transmission line, and conduct preventive maintenance service (PMS) on the 75-megavolt-ampere Transformer No. 3.
At the same time, ILECO 1 personnel will undertake several parallel activities, including the conversion of a single-phase line to a three-phase line serving St. Catherine Catholic School in Leon, clearing operations along feeders and the 69-kV line at the San Miguel Substation, and correction of a low-clearance primary line touching a streetlight in Barangay San Jose, San Miguel.
Aside from the nine municipalities under ILECO 1’s franchise area, portions of Pavia will also be affected, including Don Julio Village and CPU Centennial Homes in Aganan; Avida, Monticello, Parc Regency and Providence in Balabag; Savannah, Lumina, Eon Centennial Home, Pepsi Cola and Lessandra in Jibao-an; Centro Verde, DECA 1, 2 and 3, and Westville in Pandac; and Parc Regency in Ungka II.
Parts of Sta. Barbara, particularly barangays Jibao-an and Balabag, will likewise experience the outage.
Also affected are portions of Maasin, including barangays Linab, Punong and Siwalo, particularly Sitio Ignaripay, as well as Barangay San Jose in San Miguel.
NGCP appealed for public understanding as the maintenance activities are necessary to improve the reliability and safety of power services in the affected areas.
“Power may be restored earlier than or as scheduled, so please consider all lines and equipment energized,” NGCP said in its advisory.
The power utility advised residents and businesses in affected areas to make the necessary preparations for the scheduled interruption./PN
