BACOLOD City – Nine out of 12 coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) fatalities in Manapla, Negros Occidental were unvaccinated, according to the Municipal Health Office (MHO).
Data from the MHO showed the fatalities they recorded in the past few weeks had not received even a single dose of an anti-coronavirus jab.
Manapla’s Mayor Manolet Escalante expressed alarm. He said they logged only three COVID-related fatalities last year. Now they have 12.
Escalante appealed to eligible residents to get vaccinated.
Pulupandan town’s Mayor Miguel Peña made a similar appeal to his constituents. Their MHO recorded 10 COVID fatalities in just two weeks, among them a former town councilor./PN
