9,345 cops deployed for May polls in W. Visayas

KALIBO, Aklan – The Police Regional Office 6 (PRO-6) deployed around 9,345 policemen to ensure peaceful and orderly May 13 polls in Western Visayas.

PRO-6 director Brigadier General Jose Bulalacao said there are a total of 3,554 voting centers in the provinces of Aklan, Antique, Capiz, Iloilo, Guimaras, and Negros Occidental.

According to Bulalacao, each poll precincts will be deployed with two designated police personnel.

Six policemen will also be augmented in each municipal monitoring center to provide round-the-clock monitoring of election processes.

PRO-6 meanwhile assigned 131 personnel in enforcement units to tighten security measures against illegal drugs.

Five policemen in every provincial police offices are also ready to act as Board of Election Inspectors if public school teachers could no longer perform their election duties in far-flung villages.

Aside from deployment in voting centers, PRO-6 will also maintain 458 personnel to guard the city and provincial election monitoring centers. (With a report from Akean Forum/PN)
