MANILA – President Rodrigo “Rody” Duterte is expected to raise his Dutertenomics strategy and socio-economic agenda at the 2017 World Economic Forum (WEF) in Phnom Penh, Cambodia from May 10 to May 12, the Department of Foreign Affairs said.
“The President has also been given the opportunity to address international investors regarding his economic plan,” acting DFA spokesperson Robespierre Bolivar said.
Bolivar said Duterte may also inform the participants the progress made in the building of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (Asean) Economic Community.
The theme of this year’s WEF is “Youth, Technology, and Growth: Securing Asean’s Digital and Demographic Dividends.”
It supports the three program pillars of the WEF on ASEAN 2017, namely ASEAN in the New Global Context, ASEAN and the Connectivity Agenda, and ASEAN and the Youth Agenda, said the DFA spokesperson.
“As Asean chair, the President is expected to share his views on the region’s achievements and challenges, and to deliver a message to the youth of Asean,” he added.
After Cambodia, Duterte will fly to Hong Kong to meet with the Filipino community and to Beijing for the Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation./PN
