BACOLOD City – Another Ilonggo might replace Chief Superintendent Renato Gumban as director of the Police Regional Office 18 (PRO-18).
No less than Gumban disclosed this during the Regional Peace and Order Council (RPOC) meeting at Business Inn Hotel on Wednesday.
Gumban was set to retire on his birthday on May 21.
But since it fell on a Sunday, his departure was moved to Friday, May 19, a regular work day, he said.
Gumban has been the Negros Island Region police director since August 2016.
Director General Ronald Dela Rosa, Philippine National Police chief, will grace the turnover of command on May 19, said Gumban.
Two police generals “of Ilonggo descent” were being eyed as his successor, the outgoing PRO-18 director revealed. He refused to name them.
Gumban is himself an Ilonggo. He was once the director of the Iloilo Police Provincial Office and the Capiz Police Provincial Office.
Gumban hopes his successor will continue to intensify the campaign against illegal drugs and illegal gambling in Negros.
He also urged all PRO-18 officers to do well in their respective duties and heed the orders of their superiors.
