BACOLOD City – Millions of pesos have been allocated for various tourism projects in Bacolod.
These projects are part of the Tourism Development Plan for 2017 to 2027, the City Planning and Development Office (CPDO) said.
Around P100 million was allotted as initial budget for the Coastal Boulevard in Barangay Banago; public plaza conservation and restoration; Sum-ag River development in Barangay Sum-ag; and Nature’s Park in Barangay Alangilan, CPDO head Mary Jean Ramos told the press on Monday.
Nature’s Park will be built starting this year. It may be used for meetings, conferences, trainings, and agricultural demonstrations.
Ramos said the total estimated cost was P48 million, and about P2 million was allotted for the pavilion alone.
Meanwhile about P10 million was allocated for the Sum-ag River development.
A portion of the fund will be taken from the bottom-up budgeting of the Department of Tourism and P5 million from the 20-percent development fund of the city government.
Floating restaurants may be put up at the Sum-ag River through a public-private partnership, Ramos said.
The river development project may cover more areas since it will include a boulevard and a coastal road.
A feasibility study on the proposed coastal road connecting barangays Banago and Punta Taytay has been submitted to the National Economic and Development Authority, Ramos said.
On-the-job trainees from La Consolacion College who are architecture students contributed to the project design concepts, said Ramos./PN
