MANILA – CenterPhil Montessori Silver Knights claimed its second win in the 2017 Iloilo City Invitational Basketball Tournament (Mayors Cup – 1st Conference) by beating the Jalandoni Memorial National High School, 101-84, on Sunday night at the Barangay Katilingban Gym in Molo.
Ronald Silorio made his presence felt once again as he led the way with 29 points for the Silver Knights, which claimed the solo lead in the High School Category with a 2-0 win-loss record.
Jalandoni Memorial National High School, which was led by Jose Bachoco’s 32 markers, joined Sta. Clarita International High School and Iloilo City National High School with a 0-1 mark.
In the College Category, the University of San Agustin opened its campaign in the tournament with a 98-94 victory over the Central Philippine University Golden Lions (1-1).
Over at the 40 and up category, the PISAI joined the Iloilo PROS on top of the standings with a 1-0 win-loss slate after an 88-77 domination over the debuting Iloilo City Executive team.
Meanwhile, action resumes today in the High School category with Sta. Clarita International facing Iloilo National High School at 2 p.m. and Mandurriao National High School taking on St. Roberts International Academy at 3:30 p.m.
After missing the opening day action due to prior commitment in Manila, head coach Rodel Camacho will be returning for the Sta. Clarita International, which is aiming to recover from a 99-61 loss to Sun Yat Sen High School.
Over at the 40 and up category, the Iloilo PROS and Iloilo Executive will be gunning for a second straight victory when they face each other at 5 p.m., while the University of San Agustin and St. Paul University will battle in the College category at 6:30 p.m./PN
