ILOILO City – A total of 814 land patents have been distributed to landless beneficiaries in Western Visayas as of this month, according to the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) Region 6.
Of the land patents distributed, 772 were agricultural (covering 637.54 hectares) and 42 were residential (covering .8561 hectares), said DENR-6 director Jim Sampulna.
The total land area covered by the patents reached 638.4 hectares (6,384,032.90 square meters).
The estimated value of the lands was P292 million (agricultural patents at P270 million and residential patents at P21 million).
The values were based on the 2012 zonal valuation of real properties, said Sampulna.
The most number of land patents distributed was in the island province of Guimaras – 507 agricultural patents covering 385.2051 hectares.
The Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Office (PENRO) of Guimaras distributed the patents on May 16.
Second to Guimaras was Capiz – 173 agricultural patents covering 185.75319 hectares or 1,857,531.9 square meters.
In Iloilo province, 52 agricultural patents (23.6771 hectares) and 42 residential patents (8,561 hectares) were distributed.
In Aklan, 40 agricultural land patents covering 42.9118 hectares.
The land patent distribution was in line with DENR’s Handog Titulo program.
This year, DENR-6 targets to release over 4,000 land patents (2,728 residential land titles and 1,750 agricultural land titles). (PNA)
