ILOILO City – The Iloilo Provincial Development Council (IPDC) has proposed a P7.2-billion Annual Investment Program (AIP) for 2018.

Social services have the biggest allocation at P3.8 billion, according to Mario Nillos, chief of the Iloilo Provincial Planning and Development Office.

The other allocations were for the following:

* economic services – P2.1 billion

* general public services – P778.4 million

* other services – P365.427 million

This year, the approved AIP is some P4 billion but only around P3 billion was funded, said Nillos.

The proposed budget will be submitted to the Sangguniang Panlalawigan for deliberation.

Projects and programs for AIP will not only be funded by the Iloilo provincial government. National government agencies as well as World Bank may also finance them.

During their May 30 meeting, IPDC members also discussed proposed projects.

The meeting was attended by Gov. Arthur Defensor Sr. as chairman, Provincial Administrator Raul Banias, Ajuy municipal mayor Jett Rojas as head of the League of Municipalities of the Philippines, mayors, and non-government organizations, among others./PN
