MANILA – Ajuy, Sara and Mina have kept their unbeaten records in the men’s basketball of the 2017 Biron Cup Inter-municipality Invitational tournament in Iloilo province on Saturday.
Ajuy clinched their fourth-straight victory in as many matches by beating Estancia, 93-65, while Sara captured their third victory after a 98-64 domination of Lemery at the gym in Lemery town.
Dumangas, meanwhile, were just behind Ajuy and Sara in the Bracket D standings with a 2-1 win-loss record after a 92-85 overtime victory over Balasan, which tied Estancia with a 1-3 record.
Bracket D action continues today at the Dumangas gym with Balasan facing Lemery at 8:15 a.m., San Dionisio against Estancia at 9:30 a.m. and Dumangas against Ajuy at 11 a.m.
Over at the Cabatuan gym, Mina clinched a quarterfinals seat after trampling on Pavia (0-5), 120-56. Mina swept all of their five matches to finish on top of Bracket A.
Cabatuan and Janiuay, on the other hand, were tied in second place in the standings with a 3-2 win-loss mark following victories over New Lucena (100-97) and Bingawan (119-104), respectively.
Action resumes today at the Pototan gym for Bracket B with Pototan against San Miguel (9 a.m.) and Alimodian versus Miag-ao (10:30 a.m.).
In Bracket C at the Barotac Nuevo gym, Carles will fight Barotac Nuevo at 9 a.m., San Enrique versus Barotac Viejo at 10:30 a.m. and Dueñas against Passi City at 2 p.m./PN
