BACOLOD City – Senior Superintendent Jack Wanky, acting director of the Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO), said he is still not satisfied with the drug busts being conducted by the police and the City Drug Enforcement Unit (CDEU).
Wanky specifically mentioned the buy-bust operation on Sunday on Lopez Jaena Street, Barangay Villamonte in this city wherein 200 grams of suspected shabu with a street value of P2 million were recovered.
Arrested during the operation were John Jeryl Gemora, 21, of Barangay Alijis in this city; John Mark Malde, 20; and a 15-year-old boy whose name was withheld.
Despite the drug busts, Wanky said he is still receiving information that there are still a lot of illegal drug transactions in Bacolod.
The BCPO chief revealed that drug operators distribute the illegal substance in smaller weights for them not to get big apprehensions if ever they will be caught.
Several names of suspected drug operators are now in the list of the BCPO. One of them is a retired policeman, but the suspect cannot be apprehended yet. Wanky said the BCPO still needs to identify the whereabouts of the big drug syndicates operating in Negros Occidental.
Wanky also said he has directed all station commanders including the CDEU to look where the big stocks of illegal drugs come from, adding that they need to further intensify their campaign against illegal drugs./PN
