ILOILO City – Eighteen brand new tires allegedly disappeared from the stockroom of the Iloilo provincial government’s equipment pool in Santa Barbara, Iloilo.
Gov. Arthur Defensor Sr. ordered an investigation. In Executive Order No. 144 he created a fact finding committee.
“Sang Enero 13 pa na nadula kuno. Ang natingalahan ko lang, kung matuod nga nadula, ngaa wala ‘ko sang nabatian nga opisina nga nadula ang ila gin-request nga goma,” said Defensor.
The Provincial Engineering Office oversees the motorpool.
Defensor said he wanted to know which provincial government offices requested for new tires.
The missing tires cost a total of P99,000.
The fact-finding committee is composed of Atty. Mae Therese Albacete of the Provincial Legal Office as chairperson and Maribel Fabales of the Human Resource Management and Development Office and Marjoe Rey Aragon of the Provincial Administrator’s Office as members.
“Kun matuod gid man nga kinawat, wala kita sang palampason,” said Defensor.
He noted the contrasting findings of two separate investigations conducted by Security Officer IV Joel Lego, division head of the Safety and Security Services (Office of the Governor), and retired policeman Chief Inspector Raul Rendon hired by GDS Security Agency, Inc., the private security contractor hired by the provincial government to guard the motorpool.
Lego recommended further investigation by the Iloilo Provincial Legal Office./PN
