KALIBO, Aklan – As far as local revenue is concerned, Aklan is “in a good place,” Gov. Florencio Miraflores said in his State of the Province Address at the new Sangguniang Panlalawigan building recently.
The Provincial Treasurer’s Office collected P100.3 million from taxes in 2016, higher than the 2015 tax collection of P95.9 million, the governor said.
In the first semester of 2017, the province’s real property tax collections increased by P10.2 million, with a 51-percent collection efficacy compared last year, he added.
Moreover, Miraflores said the real property tax collection of P30.4 million from January to June this year surpassed the entire 2016 collection of P28.9 million.
“This was a product of reminders and demand letters to our taxable individuals and entities,” the governor said. (PIA/PN)
