BACOLOD City – The Bacolod Sangguniang Panlungsod (SP) has approved the request of the Bacolod Gugma Foundation Inc. (BGFI) to allow the operation of hundreds of kiosks, booths, stalls and ambulant vendors during the MassKara Festival 2026.

Councilor Jason Villarosa, chairperson of the SP Committee on Tourism, said the permit covers 272 kiosks, booths and stalls at the Bacolod City Public Plaza and the Bacolod City Government Center (BCGC).

Of the total, 139 will be installed at the Bacolod City Public Plaza, while 133 will be set up at the BCGC.

The city will also designate areas for ambulant vendors during the festival.

A total of 82 vendors will be allowed along Araneta Street, from Luzuriaga Street to Gonzaga Street. Another 30 vendors will be authorized along Gatuslao Street, from Gonzaga Street to Cuadra Street, while 40 will be allowed along Rizal Street, from Gatuslao Street to San Juan Street.

An additional 15 ambulant vendors will be permitted to operate at the BCGC.

Villarosa said the figures were provided by the BGFI, the festival organizer, adding that the available spaces at the Public Plaza and BCGC have already been fully allocated.

He reminded all vendors authorized to operate during MassKara 2026 to secure the required special permits before starting their activities.

The permits are intended to regulate temporary vending and ensure that vendors operate only in designated areas during the festival.

The major festival sites include the BCGC, Bacolod Public Plaza, Lacson Tourism Strip and SM City Bacolod.

MassKara Festival 2026 is expected to draw large crowds to Bacolod City, with temporary vending areas forming part of the city’s preparations for the annual celebration./PN
