ROXAS City – A fire destroyed 16 houses in Barangay Banica.
The hanging wires of Capiz Electric Cooperative above Marilou Calara’s house caused the blaze around 6 p.m. on Sunday, said Senior Inspector Stephen Jardeleza of the Bureau of Fire Protection – Roxas.
“The wires have been hanging loosely,” Jardeleza added.
The damage amounted to an estimated P500,000, according to a Fire bureau officer.
The houses, made of light materials, were vulnerable to the fire, the bureau officer said.
But Jardeleza explained that “belongings inside Marilou Calara’s house were partially burned, an indication that the fire did not start from the house.”
The victims were asking help from the city government./PN
