The doctor is in

WHEN a person visits a doctor’s clinic, it is safe to assume that he is suffering from something. Thus, it always is a relief on the part of the patient to know that the DOCTOR IS IN. He knows that somehow, something could be done to alleviate whatever it is that is ailing him and he would be enlightened on what is going on with him. This is the thought that came into my mind when I was trying to conceptualize the title of this column.
“The Doctor Is In” is a column that gives insights and explanations on prevailing illnesses and timely medical and health issues. It provides tips and advices on wellness, including diet and exercise as well as promoting and advocating a healthy lifestyle. This column aims to educate its readers on important matters pertaining to health presented in such a way that the nonmedical readers would easily understand.
This column, however, cannot and will not take the place of an actual consultation at a medical clinic. As technology is readily accessible nowadays, most people resort to seeking answers on the internet even on issues about health and medicine. This has become a major nightmare for us doctors. Some patients come in having already diagnosed themselves and it can be difficult for us to convince them that albeit almost everything can be found on the web, not everything that they read is true. Not only does it give undue anxiety both to the patient and the doctor, it can be outright dangerous for the patient.
Thus this column opens its doors to help our readers be enlightened as well as engage them in an interactive way. We will gladly welcome questions and suggestions on topics that you want to be discussed or on how these could be presented. I invite and encourage you to email us at drjec.is.in@gmail.com.
I am so excited to be a part of this undertaking. This is a first for me and I might still be learning the ropes but I’m really looking forward to sharing with you my knowledge and to let you know that THE DOCTOR IS indeed IN.
