ROXAS City – Police officers will use modern devices to fight terrorists, said Capiz police director Senior Superintendent Samuel Nacion.
This is a part of the Philippine National Police’s (PNP) target initiative to form a three-tiered defense system, Nacion disclosed in a security briefing organized by the Philippine Information Agency and the Capiz Association of Government Public Information Officers, Inc.
“High-end close circuit television camera (CCTV) and sophisticated communication equipment can provide real-time information of what is happening in our environment,” Nacion said.
Nacion stressed there must be a staff assigned to monitor real-time surveillances of CCTVs.
“[This is] towards a timely dispatch of policemen instead of just using the technology as a recording and reviewing device,” Nacion explained.
The PNP’s target initiative also include the mobilization of the Barangay Peacekeeping Action Teams, the strategic police patrol deployment, and the organization of community-based anti-lawlessness groups.
These will be complemented with intelligence efforts like strengthening of barangay intelligence networks and enhancing incident management particularly on bomb detection, response and detonation. (PIA/PN)
