BORACAY – Separate antidrug operations in this island resort led to the arrest of three suspects, including a high-value target, and the seizure of 14 sachets of suspected shabu.
One of those arrested was the 39-year old Lenny Sacapano of Barangay Balabag. He was a former Sangguniang Bayan member of Malay.
Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit (PDEU) officers caught Sacapano after he sold to a poseur buyer a sachet of suspected shabu for P1,000 near the Balabag public plaza around 3:18 p.m. on Aug. 4, police said.
Five more sachets of suspected shabu and a bag containing P100,000 cash were further seized from him, said PDEU team leader Chief Inspector Frensy Andrade.
Sacapano denied selling shabu to the poseur buyer and owning the items recovered from him.
The suspect – a “high-value target” of the antidrug campaign in Malay – turned himself in to the police last year under Oplan Double Barrel, the government’s intensified drive against drug trafficking, Andrade said.
Sacapano was already in the local police’s watch list of drug personalities even before the Duterte administration.
Andrade denied the allegation that they “planted” drugs on the suspect.
On Aug. 1, police also caught a carpenter for selling a sachet of suspected shabu in Sitio Lapuz-Lapuz, Barangay Balabag.
Roberto Castillo, 64, of Bugasong, Antique yielded four more sachets of the same substance.
In Barangay Yapak, a tattoo artist was caught in a drug buy-bust operation on July 24.
The 34-year old Rafael Badilla of Sitio Bulabog, Barangay Balabag sold to a poseur buyer a sachet of suspected shabu for P1,500, police said. He yielded two more sachets of the same substance.
The suspects were charged with violation of sections 5 (sale) and 11 (possession) of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. (Aklan Forum Journal/PN)
