BACOLOD City – Police have yet to identify the suspects in shooting a Lupong Tagapamayapa chairman in Barangay Minautok, Calatrava, Negros Occidental.
The 71-year-old Efraem Gubat died of gunshot wounds on the different parts of his body, a police report showed.
Gubat and his family were about to sleep on Aug. 6 when seven men went to their house, introduced themselves as members of the Philippine Army and borrowed a kettle.
When Gubat went out of their house, four of the suspects fired at him.
Recovered from the crime scene were five empty shells of a .45-caliber gun.
Conflict in land ownership may have been the motive in the shooting, police said./PN
