BACOLOD City – Three barangays in this city – 5, 24 and 41 – were declared “drug-cleared” yesterday.
The Dangerous Drugs Board (DDB) Region 6’s Oversight Committee on Barangay Drug-Clearing Operation made the declaration during the third-quarter meeting of the City Anti-Drug Abuse Council.
The three barangays complied with parameters for drug-cleared barangays set forth by Section 6 of DDB Regulation No. 3 series of 2017, said Carmelo Orbista, officer-in-charge of the Interior department’s local office and vice chairman of the Oversight Committee.
But their continued compliance with antidrug policies will be monitored. They risk losing their status for any violation, Orbista told the drug-cleared villages.
Senior Superintendent Jack Wanky, acting city police director, expects more barangays to be declared drug-cleared before the month ends.
Wanky disclosed that barangays Felisa, Handumanan and Cabug were also being evaluated.
Liga ng mga Barangay president Noli Villarosa, ex-officio city councilor, encouraged other barangays to cooperate with the authorities to attain the same status./PN
