Bacolod City – Terror attacks are moderately possible in Visayas.

The Central Command of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) said Visayas remained on the Level II of possible terror threats, during a forum on religious extremism in the Philippines in Talisay City, Negros Occidental.

This means that an attack can possibly occur, but it’s not likely.

The AFP is conducting measures like target hardening, antiterrorism awareness campaigns, and the organization and activation of antiterrorism task groups.

Moreover, the provincial peace and order councils of Negros Occidental, Negros Oriental, Aklan, and Bohol were instructed to plan structured mechanisms converging their local government units, national agencies and development sectors.

“With terrorism as the new normal, we have to deter the attacks through building communication systems among the communities,” the AFP said.

The public was also urged to be “prepared and unafraid.”

“Peace and order in Visayas must be sustained,” the AFP added. (PIA/PN)
