ILOILO City – Councilor Joshua Alim claimed gun-for-hire assassins were tapped to kill him.

A friend from the “underground world” warned him about the assassination plot, he said.

The three-man team was from Dipolog City, said Alim.

“According to the information I received, my head is worth P300,000,” according to the councilor, a lawyer by profession and former broadcast journalist.

The friend said the killers received P50,000 as “advance payment,” added Alim.

The councilor is antismoking advocate and a vocal supporter of electricity consumers complaining of being overcharged.

“I already informed the police about this and also coordinated with the National Bureau of Investigation for further verification,” said Alim.

The councilor declined to speculate on the possible motive of whoever wanted him dead.

“It would be self-serving (but) you know kon ano ang mainit nga issue,” said Alim without elaborating./PN
