CEBU City – Random drug tests among city hall employees resumed on Monday after it temporarily stopped for several weeks.
The Cebu Office for Substance Abuse Prevention (Cosap) subjected over 300 employees of the General Services Office (GSO) to the tests.
Cosap chief Garry Lao said they halted the drug tests to “surprise” the employees, especially those who were using drugs, so that they can get accurate results.
GSO head Ronald Malacora requested the drug tests be conducted to his personnel with the approval of Mayor Tomas Osmeña.
Lao said they were assessing the drug test results of teaching and non-teaching staff in the city.
Cosap has conducted random drug tests in 12 public elementary and secondary schools from Sept. 11 to 14. (PNA)
