ILOILO City – Dinagyang Festival 2017 champion Tribu Salognon of Jaro National High School will perform in South Korea this week and New Zealand in November, promoting the city to the global community.
Iloilo Dinagyang Foundation, Inc. (IDFI) chairman Ramon Cua Locsin said Tribu Salognon will be performing at the Anseong Namsadang Baudeogi Festival slated Sept. 25 to Oct. 1.
“Performers from Anseong City will also be coming here as guests during the 50th Dinagyang anniversary in January 2018,” said Locsin.
Iloilo City and Anseong City signed a mutual agreement on July 29, 2015 for friendlier relations and to promote their tourism, economic and education programs.
Anseong performers previously shared their culture to the Ilonggo audience in the 2016 edition of the Dinagyang.
Locsin said IDFI planned to hold an international cultural show during Dinagyang’s golden edition next year. It also invited the Kapa haka of Maori Tribe from New Zealand; Miss Hawaii to perform a Hawaiian dance; and a showcase of traditional dances from China, Spain and the Philippines.
Tribu Salognon is also set to perform in Auckland, New Zealand during the Farmer’s Parade in November. (Iloilo City PIO/PN)
