ILOILO City – Aside from the robbery cases he is already facing, drug and illegal gun possession charges may be slapped against a resident of Barangay Alimono in the component city of Passi in Iloilo province.

Niemar Dichosa was arrested for allegedly selling suspected shabu, a police report showed, but he refuted this.

The 20-year-old suspect told Panay News he was watching television with his younger sister when police arrested him.

“I don’t sell or use drugs. I don’t own those items recovered from me either,” Dichosa said in Hiligaynon.

Dichosa sold to an undercover operative a sachet of suspected shabu for P500 at around 9 p.m. on Monday, police said.

He yielded five more sachets of suspected shabu. A homemade 12-gauge shotgun and ammunition were also found in their house, police said.

Dichosa is already facing two robbery charges. He is out on bail, police said.

He was accused of involvement in the robbery of a bus passenger in Barangay Sarapan last year and in another robbery in Barangay Man-it earlier this year – both incidents were in Passi City – police records showed.

Dichosa is also suspected to have been involved in robbery-holdup and vehicle theft incidents in Dumarao and Cuartero towns in Capiz province, said Chief Inspector Gervinson Moyo, officer-in-charge of the Passi City police station.

Police surveilled Dichosa for almost a month prior to the Monday operation, said Moyo.

Now detained at the Passi City police station, the suspect is facing charges for violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 and the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act.

Officers from the Passi City police station and the Iloilo Police Provincial Office’s Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit staged the buy-bust./PN
