MANILA – Ceres-Negros Football Club hopes to continue its home dominance as it faces Ilocos United Football Club in the 2017 Philippines Football League tonight at the Panaad Park and Stadium in Bacolod City.
The match slated at 7 p.m. will be the second encounter between the two teams since Ceres-Negros’ 7-0 drubbing of Ilocos United on July 7 also at the Panaad Stadium.
However, unlike in that encounter, Ilocos United will be reinforced in their second setto with the latter strengthening its lineup with the acquisitions of Adam Mitter, Charlie Beaton and Arthur Kouassi.
Aside from its souped-up roster, Ilocos United will also be inspired heading into the game after tallying its first-ever PFL win recently at the expense of JP Voltes-Marikina on conversions by ex-Ceres-Negros Angelo Marasigan and Kennedy Uzoka.
Ceres-Negros, which also come from a 1-0 win over Global-Cebu last Sunday, will be without some of its key players like Martin Steuble, Patrick Reichelt and Luke Woodland in the game as they are recovering from injuries.
Expected to carry the load for Ceres-Negros are Bienvenido Marañon, Jose Elmer Porteria, Iain Ramsay, Stephan Schrock, Omid Nazari, Fernando Rodriguez, Kota Kawase, Michael Casas and Roland Muller.
Ceres-Negros is currently at fourth place in the standings with 32 points, on 10 wins, two draws and three losses, while Ilocos United is at eighth with seven points on one win, four draws and 15 losses.
There will be free admission in the grandstand and bleachers areas for the fans in Panaad.
