BACOLOD City – To prove that he is not using prohibited drugs, Negros Occidental vice governor Eugenio Lacson took a drug test yesterday. The test yielded a negative result.
The test result showed that Lacson was negative to any traces of methamphetamine (shabu), and tetrahydrocannabinol (marijuana/cannabis).
The drug test was run at the Dr. Pablo O. Toree Memorial Hospital in the city.
The result was signed by Analyst Karen Mae Dela and Hospital Laboratory head Melanie Rose Zerrudo.
Lacson took the drug test as a way to invalidate allegations that he is a drug user/protector stated in an affidavit the former Barangay 35 village chief Manuel Huelar executed.
Huelar’s affidavit indicated that Lacson showed manifestation of being an illegal drug dependent due to “dryness of his skin and unusual tongue movement.”
Lacson had earlier denied the allegations, calling them “utterly false, malicious and made with impunity.”
Lacson said he is not “into (illegal) drugs nor does he have any vices, like drinking alcoholic beverages.”
The vice governor believes that someone has “influenced’ Huelar to make such allegations in his affidavit.
He said it’s politically-motivated.
On Monday, Lacson dared Huelar to name the person behind the accusations.
Though he said the identity of that person is an open secret among officials in Negros Occidental./PN
