MANILA – Executive Secretary Salvador Medialdea will lead the executive branch as officer-in-charge while President Rodrigo Duterte attends the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation Summit abroad.
The 25th edition of the annual conference will be held from Nov. 8 to 11 in Vietnam.
“To ensure the continuity of government service, it is necessary to designate an officer-in-charge to take care of the day-to-day operations in the Office of the President and oversee the general administration of the Executive Department,” stated Special Order No. 993 signed by Duterte on Nov. 7.
All government agencies and departments were ordered to assist Medialdea.
In Vietnam, Duterte was set to meet with United States President Donald Trump for the first time.
Meetings between Duterte and Chinese President Xi Jinping and Russian President Vladimir Putin have also been arranged./PN
