BACOLOD City – The District Election Committee (DECOM) for District 5 (Bacolod West) declared a failure of election of another member of the Central Negros Electric Cooperative (Ceneco) Board of Directors.
Ceneco general manager Sulpicio Lagarde Jr. said the DECOM – composed of Atty. Marianne Carmel Corgos, Arlene Janobas, Jennifer Flores, and Gegie Garcia – passed Resolution No. 2017-02C declaring that the Nov. 4 Ceneco special election was a failure.
There were no qualified candidates for the position, the reason that the election failed, said Lagarde.
The Nov. 4 election was the third failed election that the DECOM declared for the same reason, according to Roel Venus, chief of the member-consumer services division and public relations office of Ceneco.
The first one was the March 4 regular district election and the second was the March 26 special district election, said Lagarde.
The screening committee disqualified Rodolfo Song and Antonino Panique for failing to meet the requirements upon running for the board member position.
Venus said Song – who is a regular employee at city hall – failed to secure a certificate from the city mayor allowing him to run for the position while Panique was not able to attend two annual Ceneco general assemblies.
Meanwhile, Ceneco is warning its member-consumers of individuals who introduce themselves as Ceneco employees selling devices that “save electricity.”
Ceneco stressed that these individuals are not associated with the electric cooperative, which is also not endorsing the devices they sell.
No technical study has been conducted that proves these devices reduce electricity consumption, added Ceneco.
Should member-consumers happen to meet these individuals, Ceneco advises them to call the numbers 435-3640 to 55 local 215 or 431-3962.
The electric cooperative also encourages the public to take photos of the individuals./PN
