KALIBO, Aklan – The rising number of riding-in-tandem crimes in the province prompted Sangguniang Panlalawigan member Nemesio Neron to urge the police to intensify anticrime operations.

Neron, former director of the Aklan Police Provincial Office, said the authorities must crack down criminals and focus on the campaign on loose firearms.

“The police should intensify their operations and must be on lookout to apprehend riding-in-tandem killers,” he said.

On Nov. 3, men on board a motorcycle shot to death a businessman in Barangay Panayakan, Tangalan, Aklan.

The 40-year-old Crisencio Sausa of Barangay Buenasuerte, Nabas, Aklan sustained gunshot wounds on the different parts of the body, a police report showed.

Sausa was on board a mini-truck on the way home with sister-in-law Medilyn Rivera and her brother Ariel when the gunmen attacked at around 11:20 p.m.

The Riveras sustained minor injuries, police said.

The suspects were wearing jackets and helmets, Medilyn told the police.

Another riding-in-tandem crime happened on Nov. 4.

Suspects riding a motorcycle shot a fish vendor in Barangay Caticlan, Malay, Aklan at around 8:50 p.m.

The 26-year-old Raul Daguno Jr. was brought to a private hospital and was currently under treatment, police said. (Aklan Forum Journal/PN)
