ILOILO City – Mayor Jose Espinosa III said he does not need executive assistants for traffic and health.
He already created a task force on traffic and another on wellness so there is no need for executive assistants on these concerns, he explained.
His predecessor, Jed Patrick Mabilog, had Mitch Antiqueña as executive assistant for traffic and Irene Ong for health.
Mabilog also tapped his brother Jay Victor as executive assistant for health/medical missions and former city councilor Lyndon Acap for infrastructure and health.
“I’ll be reappointing (only) those who are really helping us,” said Espinosa.
Mabilog had 16 executive assistants.
“Lain man ‘ya akon priorities,” said Espinosa.
He had so far reappointed the following executive assistants of Mabilog:
* Melchor Tan (for infrastructure)
* Perla Zulueta (for finance)
* Victor Facultad (for building administration)
* Guillemo Dela Llana (for mental health)
Espinosa also got two executive assistants of his own – Chris Montero (for information technology) and Antonio Rosado (for financial and fiscal control).
He also got former city tourism officer Benito Jimena as tourism liaison officer at the City Mayor’s Office but clarified that Jimena volunteered “for free” to help organize various events such as the Dinagyang Festival, Paraw Regatta, Independence Day, Rizal Day, Bonifacio Day, and National Heroes’ Day, among others.
Also, Espinosa appointed Dr. Boy Bayona, head of the Radiology Department of Western Visayas Medical Center, as his liaison to the said hospital.
Bayona volunteered his services for free, too, stressed Espinosa.
Mabilog’s other executive assistants were Romeo Paloma (infrastructure), Dominador Co (tourism), Elpidio Lozada Jr. (detailed at office of the congressman), Norma Jimenea (social welfare), former city councilor Rodel Fullon (business and tourism promotion), Felix Muchada (security), Hector Alejano (social affairs), and Boyet Rico (barangay affairs)./PN
