Syudad sang ILOILO – May separado nga position paper ang Sangguniang Panlungsod (SP) batok sa renewal sang franchise sang Panay Electric Company (PECO).
Ang una nga position paper amo ang ginaduso nanday mga konsehal Joshua Alim kag Plaridel Nava kaupod ang mga cause-oriented groups. Ginaduso diri ang absolute takeover kag ang kongreso ang magahimu sang rekomendasyon kon ano ang nagakadapat himuon matapos ang takeover.
“Wherefore, premises considered, it is most respectfully prayed of the honorable committee as the Legislative Franchise of the House of Representative of the Congress of the Philippines to deny/disapprove the application for the Renewal of the Franchise of PECO under HB 6032. In the event the application is denied, let the committee recommends a scheme to be undertaken by the National Government in order to protect the interest and welfare of the Iloilo City Electric Consumers,” pangayo sang kampo ni Alim sa kongreso.
Ginpanindugan man ni Alim nga napasad ang iya position paper sa una na nga resolusyon nga hugot nga nagapamatok sa renewal sang franchise sang PECO kag pahanugotan ang national government nga mag-takeover tubtob nga matumod ang kwalipikado nga electric utility.
“We have one stand. Ang resolution nga una ginpasar amo to ang stand sang city council. Ini ya (position paper) amon ni sang grupo nga gin-anchor ko sa resolution,” paathag ni Alim.
Samtang sa bahin naman ni Konsehal RLeone Gerochi, ginpahayag sang iya position paper nga kon may bag-o nga player dapat wala na sang monopoly sang isa lamang ka kompaniya kag kon aprubahan gid man ang franchise dapat limitado lang sa lima ka tuig.
“Dapat may fallback position kita. Ano ang matabu if indi kita magmadinalag-on? Dapat may protection man ang mga consumers,” pahayag ni Gerochi.
Ginpaathag man sini ang iya presensya sa hearing sang kongreso bilang chairman sang committee on public utilities sang SP.
