SANTA Clarita International High School Primes made a quick work of Sun Yat Sen High School 112-64 in the quarterfinals of the ILOPRISAA secondary boys basketball at the Iloilo Sports Complex.

Led by veterans Franc Steven Tono, Ralph Bajon and Giann Paul Nahine, Primes waxed hot offensively for an early double-digit advantage before widening it to its largest at 48 points late in the final quarter.

“This is a huge win for us but we have not achieved anything yet,” Primes head coach Rodel Camacho said of the Tuesday game. “We still need to win three more games to achieve the championship.”

Primes will return to action this afternoon for the knockout semifinals against St. Roberts International Academy Panda Rockets, which eliminated PAREF-Westbridge 76-43.

In other quarterfinals results, Hua Siong College of Iloilo scored 114-85 over Iloilo Sacred Heart School while University of San Agustin edged John B. Lacson Foundation Maritime University 94-88.

Meanwhile Western Institute of Technology barged to the finals of the tertiary women’s basketball with a 48-44 win over Central Philippine University Golden Lions. It will face San Agustin in the knockout finals.

In tertiary men’s basketball semis, San Agustin defeated John B. 84-65 while Iloilo Doctors’ College escaped CPU 80-75. San Agustin and Doctors’ will battle in the best-of-three finals./PN
