KALIBO, Aklan – There is a decrease in the number of violence against women and children (VAWC) cases in the province for the first 10 months of the year.

This was shown in the comparative data of the Aklan Police Provincial Office (APPO) for years 2016 and 2017 covering the period January to October.

For the first ten months of the year, APPO recorded 869 cases of violence against women (536) and children (333).

Meanwhile, in the same period last year, APPO recorded 1,175 cases of violence against women (797) and children (378).

Most VAWC cases this year were recorded in May with 141 cases, followed by March with 106 and April with 101.

In 2016, VAWC cases were recorded most in January with 137 cases, followed by March and June both with 136 cases and April with 129.

The data were taken from 18 police stations in this capital town, Boracay Island and New Washington. (PIA/PN)
