ROXAS City – Barangay Milibili landed in first place during the 2017 Search for Excellence in Local Governance Awards (EXCELL Awards) barangay category in the city level.
The awarding ceremony was held on Wednesday at the El Circulo Covention Center.
Barangay Cagay, on the other hand, got the second place, followed by Barangay II in third place, Barangay 10 in fourth place and Barangay Baybay in fifth place.
Barangay Banica landed in the sixth spot followed by barangays 9, Barram Tiza, and San Jose in seventh, eighth, ninth, and tenth spots, respectively.
Barangay Milibili received P30,000 cash incentive and P2-million project fund from the city government.
Barangay Cagay received P20,000 cash incentive and P1.5-million project fund while Barangay II, P10,000 cash incentive and P1-million project fund.
Minor awards were also given. Barangay II got the Best Governance Award while Barangay 10 got the Best Administration Award.
Barangay Baybay bagged the Best Social Services Award, Barangay Milibili, the Best Economic Development Award and Barangay Cagay, the Best Environment Management Award.
Minor award recipients also received cash incentives worth P5,000.
“We are offering these achievements to the people of Barangay Milibili. They always inspire me and my barangay council members to work hard for the development of our beloved Milibili,” Barangay Milibili village chief Midelo Ocampo told this reporter.
Mayor Angel Alan Celino and Rep. Emmanuel Billones (Capiz, 1st District) were present during the awarding.
The evaluation for the EXCELL Awards was conducted last month. The city government, department heads and some selected nongovernment organizations served as members of the evaluation committee./PN
