BACOLOD City – This capital city bagged four awards during the First Regional Development Council 6 (RDC-6) Recognition Ceremony for Competitive Local Government Units (LGUs) at the Iloilo Grand Hotel in Iloilo City.
Bacolod ranked first in resiliency, second in competitiveness and third in economic dynamism and infrastructure in Western Visayas.
In behalf of Mayor Evelio Leonardia, Vice Mayor El Cid Familiaran, City Development Council vice chairman George Zulueta, Executive Assistant Rodel Parcon – head of the secretariat of the Local Investment Board – and Local Economic and Investment Promotions officer Jonah Javier received the awards on Dec. 12.
“We thank the RDC-6 for recognizing our efforts to put Bacolod back on track and back on top,” said Leonardia. “These awards are very inspiring and this will surely encourage us to strive more for excellence.”
The awards were presented by National Economic and Development Authority assistant regional director Gilberto Altura, Department of Trade and Industry regional officer-in-charge Rebecca Rascon and Regional Investment and Competitiveness Coordinating Committee chairwoman Ma. Luisa Segovia.
Antique governor Rhodora Cadiao, RDC-6 chairwoman, said the awards gave due recognition to LGUs in the region that topped the CY 2017 Cities and Municipalities Index Survey, under different categories, conducted by the National Competitiveness Council. (With Bacolod City PIO/PN)
