BACOLOD City – The volume of crime in this capital city during the Christmas season has decreased 41 percent, according to the records of the Bacolod City Police (BCPO).
From Dec. 16 at 5 p.m. to Dec. 24, the BCPO recorded 23 crime incidents, which is lower compared to the 39 recorded incidents last year in the same period.
All of the “focus crimes” declined, with theft having the most significant drop at 73 percent.
Last year, there were 22 theft incidents. This year, there were only six, the BCPO said.
There were nine recorded incidents of physical injury, five incidents of robbery and two incidents of murder, the BCPO added.
Zero incidents of homicide, rape and carnapping were recorded.
The BCPO attributed the decline to their crime prevention and intervention measures, which were intensified this holiday season./PN
