EIGHT teams moved on to the quarterfinals of the 2017 Open Invitational Volleyball Cup men’s category in Leon, Iloilo at the close of the group eliminations on Wednesday.
University of San Agustin and San Miguel from Bracket A and Mandurriao volleyball club and Western Institute of Technology from Bracket B have advanced.
Central Philippine University and Cabatuan from Bracket C and Iloilo Doctors’ College Alumni and Maasin (La Luna Sangre) from Bracket D also made it to the final eight.
Knockout quarterfinal games in the men’s category were being played as of press time, according to Alma Cagalitan Capilastique of the Leon Volleyball Association.
The four surviving teams will meet in the knockout semifinals scheduled this morning at the municipal covered gym of Leon. The one-game championship match will be held at 2 p.m. today.
In the women’s category, the elimination round among Leon, University of San Agustin, Team Limitless (Buncag), Cabatuan, John B. Lacson Foundation Maritime University, and Central Philippine University Teams A and B was still ongoing.
The top four teams will advance to the knockout semifinals this morning. The championship match will follow at 4 p.m./PN
