PLAYERS from Buga Area swept the boys’ and girls’ category of the Leon Municipal Developmental League Volleyball Tournament at the Leon municipal plaza volleyball court.
Led by Most Valuable Player awardee Kyi Jagorin, Buga Area beat Islan Norte Area in the boys’ category finals on Dec. 29, 2017. Dorog Area settled for third place.
Buga Area also took home the girls’ category tiara after winning against Islan Norte Area behind MVP awardee Jamela Capenanes in the finals. Dorog Area also clinched third place in the distaff side.
Alma Cagalitan Capilastique of the Leon Volleyball Association said the pocket volleyball tournament will compose a team to be sent to the Iloilo Province Developmental League later this year.
“Leon, as one of the training centers for volleyball in the province of Iloilo, has to conduct a municipal developmental league (MDL),” Capilastique said. “We will select players from here to be sent to the [provincial D-League].”
“To make the Leon MDL interesting, the whole of Leon was divided into three teams reinforced with players from the St. Catherine Parochial School,” she added.
