ILOILO City – A police officer assigned at the City Drug Enforcement Unit (CDEU) of the Iloilo City Police Office (ICPO) faces criminal and administrative charges.
Arevalo district police station inmate Reymund Caontoy, 19, claimed he was slapped on the face several times by Police Officer 1 Napoleon Forbes on Jan. 9 around 4 a.m.
Caontoy, a resident of Barangay Calaparan, Arevalo, was arrested on Monday night (Jan. 8) for alarm and scandal and detained at the Arevalo police station.
According to Senior Inspector Mary Frace Borio, Arevalo police chief, Forbes was at the police station to remit Johnny Martir, a 29-year-old resident of Janiuay, Iloilo whom he arrested for unjust vexation, illegal possession of deadly weapon and resisting arrest.
ICPO director Senior Superintendent Henry Biñas relieved Forbes from the CDEU and ordered an investigation.
Forbes was transferred to the ICPO’s City Personnel and Holding Office.
“If the inmate’s claim is true, he will face administrative and criminal charges,” said Biñas./PN
