ILOILO City – To increase police visibility and mobility, the city government will purchase 11 new patrol cars for the Iloilo City Police Office (ICPO).
Mayor Jose Espinosa III bared the plan when ICPO director Senior Superintendent Henry Biñas visited the mayor’s office on Monday.
The patrol cars would be delivered in the next months after the city government would have completed the requirements, said Espinosa.
“We are very much thankful to our good mayor. Policemen have no reason indi mag ubra kay may magamit na nga mga salakyan,” said Biñas.
The ICPO has six police stations – City Proper, La Paz, Jaro, Mandurriao, Arevalo, and Molo – and each have at least one patrol car. Biñas, however, said some were no longer functional.
Women’s and Children’s Desks (WCD) of the police stations may be give the new patrol cars.
ICPO’s WCD chief Senior Inspector Shella Mae Sangrines looked forward to this.
“A patrol car would be a really big help for us. We have no vehicle for nighttime operations against curfew violators,” she said.
One of WCD’s tasks is to apprehend youngsters violating the curfew ordinance for minors.
The curfew is from 10 p.m. to 4 a.m./PN
