ILONGGO chess players dominated all categories in the Iloilo Provincial Chess Association (IPCA) Tune-Up Chess Tournament at the Ice Chess Center in Gaisano Capital City in La Paz, Iloilo City.
John Christopher Padios of Iloilo City captured the 16 and Under title while Joshua Lawrence Tanate and Reynald Tejero placed second and third, respectively, during the Jan. 13 matches.
Wenseal Kaye Magoliman, also of Iloilo City, claimed the overall championship in 14 and Under. Finishing behind her were Jemuel Ron Misajon and Tristan Malones.
Passi City, Iloilo native Kurt Kevin Ladot topped 12 and Under. On second and third places were Kimberly Colaste and Lance Danielle Aquito.
Makin it to the top three in the 10 and Under category were Archie Jamotillo, Angelo Gabriel Balboa and Kieth Joesef Camique. Vaughn Robert Oberio and Gazelle Kym Magoliman ruled 8 and Under.
Leonard Candado of STI-West Negros University was the lone Bacolodnon to have claimed a title after topping the 18 and Under category. Jorge Raymond Estil finished second.
The top two finishers each took home a medal, a certificate and round-trip ticket to the national age group (Visayas leg) in Kalibo, Aklan from Jan. 26 to 28. Third placers got a medal and a certificate each.
Raymart Gallo, meanwhile, ruled the Executive category with Lemon Magoliman and Alex Provido finishing behind him. All three of them won medals, certificates and round-trip tickets to the national age group./PN
