ILOILO City – A suspected illegal gambler had been arrested in Barangay Poblacion, Banate, Iloilo.
The municipal police took the 35-year-old resident Rex Asan in custody.
Officers caught Asan collecting and soliciting bets for the illegal numbers game “bookies” at around 1 p.m. on Feb. 2, a police report showed.
Cotejos (betting stubs), a cellphone, a ball pen, and P125 bet money were seized from him.
Asan faces charges for violation of Republic Act 9287, the law increasing the penalties for illegal numbers games.
Joint operatives from the Iloilo Police Provincial Office’s Special Operations Group Team 2 and the Banate municipal police station arrested the suspect./PN
