MANILA ā MalacaƱang clarified that the repatriation of overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) from Kuwait is noncompulsory.
The government is helping bring home overseas workers from the Middle East country after President Rodrigo Duterte banned the deployment of OFWs there.
Repatriated OFWs will receive financial assistance, he said.
āPangalawa po, ang polisiya diyan, iyong mga gustong umuwi, mabibigyan naman po ng immediate P5,000 financial assistance at P20,000 to begin another livelihood galing po sa Overseas Workers Welfare Administration,ā Roque said.
According to the Palace official, the government is searching for alternative employment destinations for those affected by the deployment ban.
