BACOLOD City – Several residents of E.B. Magalona, Negros Occidental were complaining the closure of the town’s legislative office.
The legislative room, where the Office of the Vice Mayor is also located, was padlocked, the residents said.
The residents lamented that they were not able to process their transactions – like pedicab registration – with the legislative office due to its closure.
One of them is the 44-year-old Ruel Dumaicos of Barangay Latasan, E.B. Magalona, who filed a report before the E.B. Magalona police station.
Dumaicos went to the office around 10 a.m. yesterday to follow-up his trisikad registration only to discover that it was not open.
Mayor Marvin Malacon said he was clueless as to why the office was closed. He only knew about the matter yesterday, he told Panay News.
Malacon added he will issue an order directing Vice Mayor Robert Acaling and some members of the Sangguniang Bayan (SB) to explain the office closure.
Though Malacon was later informed that some members of the SB attended a seminar in Bacolod City, he said it is not enough reason to close the legislative office.
Acaling confirmed this through a text message to this paper, saying that the two-day seminar will end today.
Malacon also stressed that any “transaction” must pass his office first.
“There must be even one personnel left in the said office,” Malacon stressed.
He added that the legislative office’s closure may be tantamount to administrative liability, according to the Civil Service Commission./PN
