BACOLOD City – Crime volume in this capital city decreased 27.3 percent, records from the Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) showed.
There were only 229 crimes in the city from January to February this year, 86 incidents lower than 315 crimes in the same period in 2017, the records further showed.
BCPO officer-in-charge Senior Superintendent Francisco Ebreo said decrease can be attributed to the enhanced managing of police operations in the city.
Last month, only 58 crime incidents were recorded in Bacolod, 53.58 percent lower compared to February 2017’s 125 incidents.
Moreover, BCPO’s 53 police-initiated operations in February 2018 showed an increase of 65.63 percent compared to February 2017’s 32.
“This shows the commitment of BCPO personnel in our campaign against illegal drugs, illegal gambling and loose firearms,” Ebreo added.
The Police Regional Office 6, led by director Chief Superintendent Cesar Hawthorne Binag, turned over on Feb. 26 motorcycles, submachine guns and body cameras to the BCPO to further enhance its operations.
Binag also conferred medals to BCPO personnel who successfully conducted antidrug operations this year. (With PNA/PN)
