BACOLOD City – Negros Occidental governor Alfredo Marañon Jr. thinks Rep. Alfredo “Albee” Benitez (3rd District) must run for senator instead of governor in the come 2019 elections.
Marañon said this before the capitol press Tuesday when asked to comment on the information that Benitez sought advice from him on the “best way to serve the province.”
According to Marañon, Benitez’s skill in legislation can be useful not only for Negrenses but for all Filipinos.
He added that Benitez is more qualified for the job than some members of the Senate.
“His (Benitez) programs introduced at the House of Representatives have a national impact,” the governor said.
Marañon, now on his last term, has yet to endorse someone to replace him as governor./PN
