
BACOLOD City – He tried to evade arrest that was why he was killed, police said.
Holdup suspect Jing Mijares died in a Police Station 3 operation in Purok Adams Lodge, Barangay Bata around 2 a.m. on Wednesday, a police report showed.
Officers from the police station were out to serve Mijares, a resident of Purok Macawiwili, Barangay Bata, with an arrest warrant at the time.
The warrant was issued in relation to a holdup incident that happened along the Circumferential Road in the city last month.
Police arrested Eugene Baliguas of Purok Bolinao, Barangay Bata, who allegedly perpetrated the crime with Mijares.
Baliguas was detained at the Police Station 3 lockup facility.
Mijares, on the other hand, fired at the arresting officers using his .38-caliber gun. The police retaliated by shooting back.
